The new generation of AirMax VSe® connector uses a flexible open pin chip design, providing a migration path for each differential pair up to 25Gb/s. This kind of connector also has backward compatibility. It can be connected to the existing AirMax VS® connector with minimal modification to the package size of the connector.
The connector utilizes Amphenol ICC's unshielded design technology (no metal plate) and tightly coupled differential pairs to achieve innovative design improvements to reduce loss and crosstalk.
Right-angle female and right-angle male connectors can support backplane, midplane or coplanar applications.
When deploying new equipment or upgrading equipment, the ability to deploy compatible interfaces and retain key pin configurations provides opportunities for cost savings. For example, the design of the backplane and chassis allows the installation and continued use of existing traditional daughter cards, line cards or blades, and new or future high-speed module cards.
| feature | advantage | |
| Provide a migration path up to 25Gb/s to each differential pair | Allow users to upgrade the system to higher performance without changing the dimensions | |
| Unshielded design, using tightly coupled differential pairs | Low cost solution with lower crosstalk (XT) and insertion loss | |
| Backward compatible with existing AirMax VS® and AirMax VS2® designs | Can be downgraded to be compatible with the previous generation system | |
| Available in 3, 4 and 5 pairs of backplanes and coplanar versions | Only one product can meet a wide range of customer applications | |
| Hard Metric Design Standard | Other metric power supplies and guide components can be mixed to create a precise system |
